Syllabus and Pattern Changes: GATE 2021 CE (Civil Engineering)

GATE 2021 is conducted by IIT-Bombay. Earlier they had announced updates on GATE 2021 Exam

The major changes being two new subject papers are introduced for GATE 2021 and that third-year students can now appear for the exam.

They have now released the syllabus, pattern in their official website.

What are the changes in the pattern?

All Test Papers of GATE 2021 will be entirely objective type. Pattern of questions may include

  • Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ),

  • Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and/or

  • Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.

MSQ is a new type of question where you can select multiple answers. There won't be any negative marking, but there are no partial marks either for the correct answer.

Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) carrying 1 or 2 marks each in all the papers and

sections. These questions are objective in nature, and each will have a choice of four

answers, out of which ONE or MORE than ONE choice(s) are correct.

Note: There is NO negative marking for a wrong answer in MSQ questions. However, there

is NO partial credit for choosing partially correct combinations of choices or any single

wrong choice
