IITs and NITs Cut Off for MTech in Geotechnical Engineering

IITs and NITs are the premier institutes of the Country, so attract students around the globe. In this blog, I will let you know the cutoff score of MTech Geotechnical Engineering in various IITs and NITs. These cut off scores will give the aspirants an insight into last year’s M.Tech admissions in those institutes.

Geotechnical Engineering is compromises of many of the branches like foundation engineering, earthquake engineering, soil dynamics, geo-environmental engineering, etc. The field is very vast and most people restrain it to foundation engineering, which is not the truth.

The scope of M.Tech. Geotechnical is vast. You could opt for a PhD if you want to get into academics or Research and Development (R&D). You can happen to be a tunnel geotechnical engineer, a Marine geotechnical engineer, a Geotechnical earthquake engineer or work as a consultant for multiple projects.

M.Tech. Geotechnical Engineering in IITs

Getting a seat in IIT is a dream for many candidates around there. IITs and NITs have M.Tech. Geotechnical Engineering in various forms, such as foundation engineering, geo-environmental engineering, etc

Depending upon the availability of data our experts compared the cutoffs(Score or Normalized Marks) of 9 IITs, namely IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Dhanbad, IIT Palakkad, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Bhubaneswar.

The list is a mix of Old and New IITs, which is to give a better idea about the whole scenario.

Cutoff

The below table shows the score or normalized mark of the last candidate who gets admitted into that respective IIT(in Geotechnical Engineering Specialization).

The last general category candidate who gets admitted to IIT Bombay Geotechnical Engineering had a GATE 2019 score of 678 (and a GATE 2020 score of 774).
